Performing surgery from 1966, Prof. V. Serdyuk was not satisfied with results and facing numerous purulent complications, research led him to physiotherapy and in particular magnetotherapy. In participation with engineers Prof. V. Serdyuk constructed special magneto-acoustic devices used for experimental and clinical investigations. As a result new effective methods for prophylaxis and treatment of purulent complications after trauma surgery as well diseases of loco motor system were developed and defended with a number of Soviet, Russian and Ukrainian patents. Practical usage of these methods was realized with magneto-acoustic devices, which were under serial production in the former Soviet Union and are produced in Ukraine nowadays. Thanks to activity of Prof. V. Serdyuk and his colleges magnetotherapy has become an important tool of physiotherapy in surgery through the whole Eastern Europe and can be found in every single hospital in the region. Magnetotherapy has become an important remedy in many surgical and therapeutical clinics, enhancing efficacy of medicamental and nonmedicamental treatment of surgical and therapeutical patients.

Practically all existing in the world experience of clinical usage of magnetic fields as well as his own were accumulated, analyzed and systematized in the monograph of Prof. V. Serdyuk, which was published with a title "MAGNETOTHERAPY" in Kiev, in 2004.

The book has a structure of a reference edition and contains brief information about 264 Candidate and Doctor thesis, 230 monographs, 77 books of selected thematic works, 295 authors certificates and patents. Index of literature contains more than 2850 publications from different countries of the world. Actually this book is a unique edition, which may be a matter of a big interest not only for doctors, nurses and medical personal, but also for medical students, technicians, constructors of medical devices and instruments etc.
